A new block of tickets for the Broadway smash Hamilton is scheduled to go on sale to the general public starting at 11:10 PM June 12, according to Ticketmaster. It was originally scheduled to go on sale at 8 PM, but was moved later so as not to conflict with the Tony Awards broadcast.

The tickets that went on pre-sale June 7, available exclusively for AMEX Centurion/Platinum Card holders, apparently sold out the regularly priced $179-$199 seats allotted to that group. Cardholders who called Ticketmaster late June 7 and June 8 were being told that only the premium seats, priced at $849, are left.

That is a record high price for an official Broadway show premium ticket, though scalpers are getting two and three times that much. The previous official records were $549 for Hamilton (earlier this year) and $477 for The Book of Mormon.

There was no official confirmation or denial from the Broadway production as of June 8. However, the New York Times reported June 9 that “about 200 seats at every Hamilton performance — mostly in the center orchestra — will be sold for $849. The rest of the house ... about 1,075 seats per show — will be sold for between $179 and $199.”

The new block of tickets covers January-May 21, 2017. Tickets for 2016 have been priced at $139-$199, but were all but sold out months ago.

The Times also reported that starting in January the number of $10 seats in the theatre’s first two rows, which are sold by lottery each day, will be more than doubled, from 21 to 46.

Hamilton is nominated for a record 16 Tony Awards.

In the meantime, tickets for July 9, which has been reported as Lin-Manuel Miranda's final performance, are being hawked by resellers for up to $9,998 on Ticketmaster. The production has not confirmed that date as Miranda's last.
