News New British Musical The Confession Room to be Presented in Concert at London's St. James Theatre Studio July 13 The Confession Room, a new original British musical with music and lyrics by Dan Looney and book by Patrick Wilde, is to be presented in a one-off concert version July 13 at London's St. James Theatre Studio.

The musical revolves around a group of people who come to The Confession Room to spill their most embarrassing confessions and stories; a way of getting it off of their chest in front of a group of strangers rather than the humiliation they may face in telling their friends.

It was previously released as a concept recording by SimGRecords in May 2013, as previously reported here. The cast for the recording featured West End stars Anna-Jane Casey, Alex Gaumond, Dean Chisnall and Ross Hunter, an ensemble cast of 30 and a 12-piece orchestra. The song "Excalibur93" went on to be nominated for the Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Award 2013.

The concert version will be directed by Paul Foster with musical direction by Tim Evans and will star Jon Robyns. Further casting is still to be announced. It will be produced by Robin Rayner.

Robyns has previously appeared in the West End as Marius in Les Miserables (Queen’s Theatre), Sir Galahad in Monty Python's Spamalot (Playhouse Theatre), Princeton/Rod in the original London production of Avenue Q (Noel Coward) and Enjolras in the 25th anniversary international tour of Les Miserables.
