On November 18, Euan Morton leaves the cast of Taboo, where he has played the young Boy George since the musical opened in January.
His resemblance to the young George, combined with an extraordinary singing voice, made him perfect casting for the role, and he has played it against a variety of stars acting the part of Leigh Bowery, a role currently played by Boy George himself, who rejoined the cast Nov. 11.
Beginning Nov. 18, Morton will be replaced by Stephen Ashfield, while Phil Nichol will play Philip Salon, and Mari Wilson will replace Lyn Paul as Josie, the mother of a young photographer who becomes involved in a love triangle with his girlfriend and George.
The London production of Taboo is booking through May 31, 2003. A New York production — co-produced by Rosie O'Donnell — is expected on Broadway next year.
