CHICAGO -- A new Chicago hotel is forging an innovative link with the arts community. The 483-room Hotel Allegro, opening in March at the intersection of Randolph and LaSalle Streets, will name its meeting rooms after local nonprofit arts organizations.
Local companies to be honored include the Goodman, Organic Touchstone, Court, Shakespeare Repertory, Steppenwolf and Victory Gardens theatres.
Moreover, each theatre will maintain a corporate room account with the hotel and will receive a 5 percent rebate on all billings generated by their account. In effect, out-of-towners staying at the hotel will earn each theatre a 5 percent commission (in addition to the usual arts-organization 'discount from the rack' rates).
