News New Jersey's Paper Mill Presents Guys and Dolls June 2-July 18 The Paper Mill Playhouse's production of Frank Loesser's Guys and Dolls begins performances June 2.

Heading the cast of the classic musical are Kate Baldwin, Robert Cuccioli, Michael Mastro and 2004 Tony Award nominee Karen Ziemba as, respectively, Sarah Brown, Sky Masterson, Nathan Detroit and Miss Adelaide. Directed by Stafford Arima, that foursome will be joined by Marilynn Allain, Christy Boardman, Steven Bogard (Lt. Brannigan), Rachel Bress, Lauren Brim, Erick Buckley (Rusty Charlie), Gerrard Carter, Matt Castle, Robert Creighton (Nicely-Nicely Johnson), Tony Cucci (Big Jule), Jeff Cyronek, Jason Davis, Bob Dorian (Arvide Abernathy), Robert DuSold (Benny Southstreet), Ashley Eichbauer,  Howard Emanuel, Ann George, Spencer Jones, Steve Konopelski, Robin Lounsbury, Mayumi Miguel, Billy Rosa, Eric G. Scalise, Rick Spaans, Brian Shepard, Tia Speros, Allison Stodola and Matt Yoder.

Guys and Dolls will play the Paper Mill through July 18 with an official opening set for June 5. With choreography by Patti Wilcox and musical direction by Tom Helm, the creative team also includes Tony Walton (sets), Randall Klein (costume coordinator), F. Mitchell Dana (lights) and Duncan Robert Edwards (sound).

The original Broadway production of Guys and Dolls opened at the 46th Street Theatre in Nov. 1950, running 1,200 performances before closing Nov. 28, 1953. Among the premiere cast were Robert Alda as Sky Masterson, Isabel Bigley as Sarah Brown, Sam Levene as Nathan Detroit and Vivian Blaine as Miss Adelaide. Blaine re-created her role for the 1955 film, which also starred Marlon Brando as Sky Masterson, Jean Simmons as Sarah Brown and Frank Sinatra as Nathan Detroit.

The most recent Broadway revival was mounted at the Martin Beck Theatre in March 1992. Directed by Jerry Zaks, the Tony-winning production cast Peter Gallagher as Sky, Josie de Guzman as Sarah Brown, Nathan Lane as Nathan Detroit and Faith Prince as Miss Adelaide. Prince won a Tony for her performance in the musical, which ran 1,143 performances.
