News New LaChiusa Musical Little Fish Shifts First Preview to Jan. 22 The upcoming Second Stage Theatre staging of Michael John LaChiusa's world premiere musical, Little Fish, will not begin previews Jan. 22, one day after the previously announced start date.

The shift in scheduling is to allow for more technical work to be done in the space as Crowns closed Jan. 5. A production spokesperson noted the short turnaround impeded on the load-out of the previous performance at the theatre and the load-in of the forthcoming production.

The new musical opens Feb. 13 at the Off-Broadway not-for-profit with an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Laura Thompson (Urinetown), Lea DeLaria (The Rocky Horror Show), Marcy Harriell (Rent), Hugh Panaro (The Phantom of the Opera), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (On the Town), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Summer of '42), Ken Marks (Mamma Mia!), and Eric Jordan Young (Seussical).

Composer of Broadway musicals such as The Wild Party and Marie Christine, LaChiusa's new musical, Little Fish, centers around a neurotic New Yorker (played by Thompson) who reflects on her attempts to quit smoking, exercise regularly, and find the man of her dreams in the big city.

Hyphenate Graciela Daniele (Once on This Island, Marie Christine, A New Brain) directs and choreographs the work with book, lyrics and music by LaChiusa. Dan Lipton serves as musical director. Bruce Coughlin (Urinetown) provides orchestrations.

The creative team includes Riccardo Hernandez (sets), Peggy Eisenhauer (lights), Toni Leslie James (costumes) and Scott Lehrer (sound).
