Featuring the music of Lippa (The Wild Party) and book and lyrics by Brian Crawley (Violet), the musical is based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. A Little Princess began at the California company's Mountain View venue Aug. 25 for a run through Sept. 19.

Mackenzie Mauzy (Lizzie Borden, "Guiding Light") will star in the title role of Sara Crewe opposite Will Chase (Aida) as Captain Crewe, under the direction of Susan Schulman (The Secret Garden and the upcoming Little Women musical).

Lianne Marie Dobbs, Sophie Tamiko Oda, Kimberly King, Molly Bell, Remy Zaken, Courtney Stokes, C. Kelley Wright, Brian Herndon, Noel Anthony and Lindsay Faye are also featured in a cast that includes Carmichael Blankenship, Catherine Rose Smith, Haley Steele, Ralph William Boone, Asmeret Ghebremichael, Maia Evwaraye-Griffin, Dawn Burroughs, Dennis Stowe, Levensky Smith, Casey Ford Alexander and Jesse Nager.

The musical adaptation follows the story of a young daughter of a wealthy adventurer who is sent to a boarding school in Victorian England, but soon finds adventure is also in her blood. When the girl learns of reports of her father's death, her life takes a turn and she is forced to become a servant.

The A Little Princess design team features Heidi Ettinger (sets), Paul Gallo (lighting) and Catherine Zuber (costumes). Andy Blankenbeuhler provides choreography and Joel Fram handles musical direction. TheatreWorks productions are mounted at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts in Mountain View, CA, and the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto.
