News New Musical Angels to Bow at Louisiana's Strand Theatre The new musical Angels — penned by Ken Lai and Marcus Cheong — will play an out-of-town engagement in Shreveport, LA, this summer.

According to www.ktbs.com, the Broadway-aimed musical will make its debut at the Strand Theater in Shreveport. Backers of the musical, according to the news station, are "using the state's newly-approved Broadway South tax credits to put on the show." A recent casting notice indicated that the Rich Fowler-directed production will play the Louisiana venue Aug. 29-Sept 13. A second out-of-town engagement is expected prior to a hoped-for Broadway run sometime during the 2008-2009 season. No Broadway theatre has been secured.

Writer Marcus Cheong is also producing Angels, which features music by Lai and book and lyrics by Lai and Cheong.

Angels, according to a previous press statement, "is a tale of good versus evil – angels and demons. In this epic backdrop, Angels tells the story of Sera, the Angel of Light, as she seeks to find her place and purpose. Angels offers a message of hope, courage and redemption that is ideal for family audiences seeking an uplifting spectacle."
