News   New Musical Heading East Heads East to NYC, Nov. 19-20 The Directors Company will present readings of the new musical Heading East by Robert Lee and Leon Ko Nov. 19-20 at the Directors Company Theatre.

The Directors Company will present readings of the new musical Heading East by Robert Lee and Leon Ko Nov. 19-20 at the Directors Company Theatre.

Brad Rouse will direct the cast that includes B.D. Wong (M. Butterfly), Angela Ai, Steven Eng, Lydia Gaston, MaryAnn Hu, Christine Toy Johnson, Francis Jue, Fay Ann Lee, Ming Lee, Orville Mendoza, Paul Nakauchi, Hazel Ann Raymundo and Virginia Wing.

The Ko and Lee team have co-written three other musicals, including Chinese Hell, which is currently being developed in San Francisco thanks to a $25,000 grant from the American Conservatory Theatre. Their themes of the Asian experience run throughout their productions. Heading East had previously toured California, winning the 2001 Richard Rodgers Development Award.
