Lizard Boy, which had a sold-out, acclaimed world-premiere run at Seattle Repertory Theatre last year, is receiving private industry readings at Playwrights Horizons March 10 at 12:30 PM and 3 PM.
Justin Huertas, who also wrote the new work, is reprising his starring role for the readings, along with original co-stars Kirsten deLohr Helland and William A. Williams. Brandon Ivie, who helmed the Seattle premiere, returns to direct.
Lizard Boy is billed as a comic book/indie folk-rock musical, filled with “quirky romantic comedy antics and superhero mayhem.” It follows the story of Trevor, who has lizard skin and mysterious powers. The show was commissioned by Seattle Rep and was the recipient of four Gregary Awards, including Best New Play.
The readings are closed to the general public. Industry professionals interested in attending should inquire at firstname.lastname@example.org.
