Composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz again serves as artistic director for the workshop, which will take place March 18-April 1 at ASCAP's New York home (One Lincoln Plaza on Broadway - between 63rd and 64th Streets - on the 5th Floor).
The event is part of the foundations's "continuing commitment to nurture new American musicals," according to an announcement. "Workshop participants will have the opportunity to present selections from their original works in progress for professional critique. Each session will feature prominent guests from all aspects of musical theatre, including producers, directors, critics, performers and composers."
Past panelists have included Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, Sheldon Harnick, Mark Hollmann, Rupert Holmes and Joseph Stein.
To submit a musical, writers must send a CD of four songs with lyric sheets, a brief description of each song as to its plot placement, a brief synopsis of the musical and biographical information for each composer, lyricist & book writer. (Also include address/phone number/email).
