The new series stars Bill Pullman as President Dale Gilchrist, Jenna Elfman as Emily Gilchrist, Gad as Skip Gilchrist, Martha MacIsaac as Becca Gilchrist, Amara Miller as Marigold Gilchrist, Benjamin Stockham as Xander Gilchrist and Andre Holland as Marshall Malloy.

"The Gilchrists are just the average American family dealing with all the everyday issues, like a grown kid who's forced to move back home, teenagers who are smarter than their teachers and a stepmom (Jenna Elfman) desperately trying to win over the kids," according to NBC. "They're loving, fun and a little crazy. In other words, just like everyone else - with one exception: they live in a very special house. The White House! Whether it's entertaining foreign dignitaries, holding secret cabinet meetings or putting out fires - figuratively and sometimes literally - there's never a dull moment in the Gilchrist White House."

The Dec. 17 broadcast is titled "Putting Out Fires" and is described as such: "First up: Dale's son, Skip, is caught in a public mishap and escorted back to the White House, where he's kept under close surveillance. Meanwhile, Dale discusses a trade agreement with visiting South American leaders; and Emily tries to make peace with Becca."

The official series premiere is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2013, at 9:30 PM.

The new comedy is from Emmy-winning executive producer/director Jason Winer ("Modern Family"). The executive producers are Winer, Gad and Jon Lovett (former White House speechwriter). Winer also directed the pilot. "1600 Penn" is produced by 20th Century Fox.
