News New Off-Broadway Musical Sessions Extends Run One Week Sessions — a new musical by Albert Tapper — has extended its run at Off-Broadway's Peter Jay Sharp Theatre by one week.

The musical, which officially opened June 10, was originally scheduled to play a limited engagement through Aug. 18. Sessions will now end its run Aug. 25.

Directed by Steven Petrillo, the cast includes Bertilla Baker (Titanic) as Mrs. Murphy, Amy Bodnar (Oklahoma!) as Leila, Al Bundonis (Ragtime national tour) as Baxter, David Patrick Ford (The Full Monty national tour) as Dylan, Scott Richard Foster (Brooklyn the Musical) as Preston, Jim Madden (Hello, Dolly!) as Mr. Murphy, Kelli Maguire (A Wonderful Life) as Sunshine, Trisha Rapier (The Boy from Oz) as Mary, Matthew Shepard (Beauty and the Beast) as Dr. Peter Peterson and Ed Reynolds Young (Chapter Two) as The Voice.

"Dr. Peter Peterson listens, advises and tests his patients," according to Sessions press notes. "What good therapist wouldn't? At once a drama and a comedy with poignant and hilarious moments alike, Sessions is a new musical for a modern generation. After all, couldn't we all use a little therapy?" Song titles include "I'm Only Human," "The Sun Shines In," "I've Become My Father," "Feels Like Home" and "You Should Dance."

Sessions features book, music and lyrics by Albert Tapper, who also penned Imperfect Chemistry (Minetta Lane Theatre, 2000) and From Where I Stand (Laurie Beechman Theatre, 2003).

The creative team also includes Steven Gross (musical arrangements, orchestrations and musical supervision), Peter J. Barbieri Jr. (scenic and costume design), Deborah E. Constantine (lighting design) and Wallace J. Flores (sound design). Producers are Algonquin Theater Productions and Ten Grand Productions.

Sessions plays Tuesday-Saturday evenings at 8 PM with matinees Saturdays at 2 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.
