That Lovin' Feelin', a new musical chronicling the life and music of "blue-eyed soul" pioneers The Righteous Brothers, Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, is currently playing a West Coast premiere engagement in Los Angeles.
The production, which began performances Dec. 11, 2015 is presented by the Group Rep at North Hollywood's Lonny Chapman Theatre. The engagement runs through Jan. 24.
"The play dives deeply into the struggles these two young white boys had breaking into R&B as well as the amazing relationship these two performers had for more than forty years," state production notes. The show features over 20 of the duo's hit songs including "Little Latin Lupe Lu," "Justine," "Unchained Melody" and "You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin.’"
Morgan Lauff stars as a young Medley and Brenden MacDonald plays a young Hatfield. Penned by James A. Zimmerman, That Lovin' Feelin' features direction by Jules Aaron, musical direction by Paul Cady, who also plays the older Medley; and choreography by Michele Bernath. Richard Levinson serves as music advisor.
The Lonny Chapman Theatre is located at 10900 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood. To purchase tickets visit thegrouprep.com.
