Classic Arts News New York City Ballet Names New Principals and Soloists New York City Ballet has promoted eight of its dancers: five soloists have become principal dancers, and three members of the corps de ballet have become soloists.
Ashley Bouder, Megan Fairchild, Janie Taylor, Joaquin De Luz, and Stephen Hanna are now principal dancers with the company.

All of the promoted dancers, except for De Luz, did some of their training at the School of American Ballet, NYCB's official school. De Luz, who is from Spain, trained at the Victor Ullate School of Ballet.

Teresa Reichlen, Adam Hendrickson, and Daniel Ulbricht have been promoted to the rank of soloist.

The promotions were announced on January 22, the anniversary of company co-founder George Balanchine's birth.
