Peter Boal, the new artistic director of Seattle's Pacific Northwest Ballet, has made his first hires.

Among the dancers Boal has appointed to the company are Carla K‹rbes, a former colleague of Boal's at New York City Ballet. K‹rbes joined NYCB as an apprentice in October 1999 and became a member of the corps de ballet in 2000 and a soloist earlier this year. She joins PNB as a soloist.

Boal named two new members to the corps de ballet: Benjamin Griffiths, most recently a dancer at Boston Ballet, and Jessika Anspach, a PNB apprentice. Leanne Larsen, a graduate of PNB's school, becomes an apprentice.
