News New York City Will Get New Equity Classic Theatre Company Founding director Eric Krebs and artistic director Christopher Scott announced the creation of a new Equity theatre company, which will focus on repertoire from the classical theatre. The Glass Menagerie and Midsummer Night's Dream are slated for the company's first season.

Masterworks Theater Company will stage its plays at the 47th Street Theater (304 West 47th Street). The first season will feature Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie in May 2015, followed by Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in June.

The company's mission is to present "accessible, professional productions of theatrical and literary heavyweights that are widely produced and studied in educational settings at affordable ticket prices to help ignite the audience for live theater for the next generation."

Masterworks Theater Company will also offer school-friendly schedules, teacher workshops and study guides as part of its programming.
