The screening of Frank Oz's film, part of the Festival's Masterworks lineup, will include the movie musical's original ending, including 20 minutes of never-before-seen footage.
The film features Ellen Greene reprising her stage role as Audrey opposite Rick Moranis as Seymour Krelborn with Levi Stubbs as Audrey II, Vincent Gardenia as Mushnik, Steve Martin as Orin Scrivello D.D.S., Tichina Arnold as Crystal, Michelle Weeks as Ronette and Tisha Campbell-Martin as Chiffon. Howard Ashman penned the screenplay for the film, which features a score by Ashman and Alan Menken.
The upcoming screening is scheduled to feature appearances by director Oz and actress Greene; the latter told Playbill.com, "I am really so very excited. I have never seen the original ending on the big screen...just on Howard's computer, so this will be my first, and I do hope that all the 'Little Shop' fans out there will come and join in the celebration on the 29th of September. Hope to see you there."
In October "Little Shop of Horrors: Director's Cut," featuring both endings, will be available on Blu-ray.
