Classic Arts News New York Philharmonic to Give Free Performance at Cathedral of St. John the Divine on May 30 The New York Philharmonic will give its annual Memorial Day performance at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine on May 30, the orchestra announced.
Philharmonic assistant conductor Xian Zhang will conduct the concert, which begins at 8 p.m. The program includes Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture and Rimsky-Korsakov's Sheherazade.

Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call 212-875-5709.

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is located on Manhattan's Upper West Side at Amsterdam Avenue and 112th Street. Construction on the massive building, which contains the longest interior space of any cathedral, remains unfinished, more than a century after it began in 1892.
