Under the direction of Stuart Howard, The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd began performances Feb. 4 and will officially open March 1. Originally scheduled to conclude March 29, the New York premiere of the Lawrence work has been extended by an additional week.

The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd, according to press notes, "is the story of a marriage in trouble. It is the story of a husband trying to escape the scorn and bitterness of a woman who resents the hold he has on her. It is the story of a wife trying desperately to make a safe home for her young children amidst the coarseness of a soot-blackened coal mining village—safe from her drunken husband, from her meddling mother-in-law—and from the passion of the man who wants to take her away."

Designing the production are Marion Williams (set design), Martha Hally (costume design), Jeff Nellis (lighting design) and Jane Shaw (sound design).

Tickets are available by phoning (212) 315-0231. The Mint Theater Company is located at 311 West 43rd Street in New York. For more information visit www.minttheater.org.
