Shear Madness, the murder mystery that has racked up record runs in cities outside New York, has reached a milestone in the Big Apple as well. Having opened November 11, 2015, the show will play its 500th Off-Broadway performance on January 26.
Set in a hair salon, Paul Pörtner’s comedy allows the audience to vote each night on who they believe committed the murder that’s at the center of the plot.
That twist has helped boost the show to runs of 7,232 performances in Chicago, more than 13,000 performances in Washington, D.C., and more than 15,000 performances in Boston. It holds the record as the longest-running stage show in Boston and Washington history. Productions are also running in Seoul, South Korea; Paris, France; and Kraców, Poland.
New York City performances continue at the Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street). Bruce Jordan directed a cast that currently features Jordan Ahnquist, Gil Brady, Priscilla Flowers, Lisa McMillan, Patrick Noonan, and Jonathan Randell Silver.
