The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, an outdoor performing arts venue currently under construction on the site of the Woodstock Festival, has named David Carlucci as its first president and executive director, the New York Times reports.

The 4,800-seat Bethel Woods Center, about 100 miles northwest of New York City, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2006 with a performance by the New York Philharmonic, and may become the Philharmonic's regular summer home.

Carlucci, most recently the general manager of House of Blues Concerts Midwest, was a longtime staffer at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, according to the Times.
