PlayBlog Newly Released Footage from ART's Porgy and Bess Starring Audra McDonald and Norm Lewis (Video) The American Repertory Theater production of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, starring Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and Norm Lewis, finished its run in Cambridge, MA, Oct. 2. The transformed piece is now headed to Broadway, and ART has released additional footage for a sneak peek into the production before it hits New York.

The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess will arrive at the Richard Rodgers Theatre Dec. 17, prior to an official opening Jan. 12, 2012. Producers recently announced that the Broadway run will be presented as a 26-week limited engagement through June 24, 2012.

The revised staging of the four-hour folk opera, which has been contoured into a two-and-a-half-hour production, premiered at the American Repertory Theater in August under the direction of Tony Award-nominated director Diane Paulus.

Lewis and McDonald, who play Porgy and Bess, respectively, are confirmed to repeat their performances in the musical when the production makes the transfer to New York.
