Published by Disney Editions, the new tome, according to press notes, "features more than one hundred first-person accounts from the cast, creative team, and fans, of the creation and impact of Newsies. The book takes readers through the long and unexpected trajectory of the title from the historical events that inspired it to the 1992 film, to the stage development, and all the way through the musical's first anniversary on Broadway."

Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the musical is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work.
