News "Newsroom" Star Jeff Daniels Will Play 54 Below in January Tony Award nominee Jeff Daniels, who starred in the 2009 Tony Award-winning play God of Carnage and currently appears on HBO's "Newsroom," will play a six-concert engagement of original music at 54 Below in January.

Daniels will perform Jan. 2, 2014, at 7 PM and 9:30 PM; Jan. 3 at 8 PM and 11 PM; and Jan. 4 at 8 PM and 11 PM. Tickets are currently available to 54 Below email subscribers. They go on sale to the general public Oct. 21. The evening promises original music by Daniels with titles to include "If William Shatner Can, I Can Too," "You Can Drink An Ugly Girl Pretty" and "Have a Good Life (Then Die)." According to 54 Below, "Filled with laugh-out-loud humor and poignancy, this is a wondrous night with one of television’s biggest stars that you don’t want to miss."

Emmy winner Daniels, who currently stars as journalist Will McAvoy on the Aaron Sorkin drama "The Newsroom," is known for such film work as "The Squid and The Whale," "Dumb & Dumber," "Terms of Endearment," "Gettysburg" and more. He earned a 2009 Tony Award nomination for God of Carnage. Daniels also appeared on Broadway in Redwood Curtain, Fifth of July and The Golden Age and Off-Broadway in Blackbird. Daniels has also written plays, many of which have been staged at Chelsea, Michigan's Purple Rose Theatre Company — of which he is founder and executive director.
