News Nick Cassavetes Directs Rockstar at Circus Theatricals, May 21 Nick Cassavetes, son of the late filmmaker John Cassavetes, will direct one of the world premiere short plays produced under the umbrella title The Circus Theatricals One Act Spectacular.

Nick Cassavetes, son of the late filmmaker John Cassavetes, will direct one of the world premiere short plays produced under the umbrella title The Circus Theatricals One Act Spectacular.

Two separate bills of plays will be presented. The first, Two Headed Monster, opens May 21 at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Hollywood.

Cassavetes, who recently directed "She's So Lovely" with Sean Penn, Robin Wright and John Travolta, will direct James Bozian's Just a Rockstar, a fantasy love story about a strung-out musician. Jack Stehlin plays the musician, Rain Pryor (Richard Pryor's daughter) his singer girlfriend.

Another Bozian play, All the Hitz, All the Time, will open that night as well, directed by Dean Nichols.

"Just a Rockstar proves that love just is," said Cassavetes in a statement. "You can't explain it, you can't find a reason for it. If it's there, it's there."Chuck Rose is the other playwright whose work will be showcased by Circus Theatricals. Rose's bill of six plays, Tryst and Shout, opens May 19 and will run Wednesday and Thursday nights, with Bozian's plays occupying the Fri.-Sat. slot.

Other directors involved include Stehlin, Ron Ohrbach, Rainn Wilson, Dean Nichols, Tony Campisi and Rose. The Hudson Guild Theatre is located at 6543 Santa Monica Blvd. Call (323) 993-6142.
