The annual concert fundraiser Night of a Thousand Judys returns to Joe’s Pub June 1 for its seventh annual tribute to late entertainer Judy Garland. This year holds special significance, marking both the 50th anniversary of Garland’s passing and the Stonewall Riots.
To mark the occasion, Frank “Fraver” Verlizzo, the artist behind the show posters for Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park With George, and The Lion King, has put his signature stamp on this year’s poster.
VIP ticket holders will receive a print of the poster signed by the evening's performers.
Written and hosted by Justin Sayre, the concert supports the work of the Ali Forney Center, and its mission to protect and empower homeless LGBTQ youth.
Talent for this year's event has not yet been revealed.
Previous years have included such performers as Carolee Carmello, Liz Callaway, Tonya Pinkins, Howard McGillin, Telly Leung, Justin Vivian Bond, Karen Mason, Karen Akers, Martha Wash, Madeleine Peyroux, Cyrille Aimée, Jane Monheit, Molly Pope, Nellie McKay, and more.
Night of a Thousand Judys is directed by Peter James Cook, with music direction by Lance Horne. The event is produced by Dan Fortune and Adam J. Rosen, with Fortune serving as executive producer.
Tickets, beginning at $75, can be purchased at JoesPub.com.
