She will begin the tour at Aylesbury's Waterside Theatre April 1, before visiting Bromley, London's Wimbledon Theatre, Grimsby, York, Woking and Birmingham.

Described in press materials as a theatrical cocktail of songs and stories from Billie Holiday’s extraordinary but tragically short life that follows her journey poverty to stardom, it features some of her greatest songs, including "Strange Fruit," "God Bless the Child," "Lover Man", "Don't Explain" and "All of Me."



Kristofferson is joined by a band of jazz musicians led by MD/pianist Allan Rogers and featuring Martin Shaw on trumpet, Albert Gaza on tenor sax and clarinet and Phil Donnelly on double bass.



In a press statement, Kristofferson has commented, "I first heard Billie Holiday on the radio when I was very young and immediately fell in love with the song ‘God Bless the Child’.  I remember singing along with her using my hairbrush for a mic! Then came my first opportunity at drama school to sing some jazz so I chose ‘Strange Fruit.' I wanted to know all there was to know about Billie Holiday and the more I learned the more I loved her."
