News No Young Vic Hamlet on Jude Law's Horizon A spokesperson for London's Young Vic theatre has scotched reports that film star Jude Law is in serious talks with Artistic Director David Lan about a return to the theatre’s stage.

In the lead-up to the opening of the Young Vic’s new £12.5 million building, the rumor mill has been working overtime about Law playing Hamlet.

"There's nothing on the horizon," said the spokesperson who said that Lan was disappointed that some reports in the British press had misquoted him.

"David and Jude Law are always in talks about the best part (for Law) because they’ve got a good working relationship. And when the right thing comes up Jude would love to appear at the Young Vic again."

But on the reports that Lan and Law were in serious talks, the spokesperson said "Wrong, wrong, wrong. Hamlet is so not on the agenda."

Jude Law has a close relationship with the Young Vic. Not only has the film star been involved with fundraising for the venue, his previous stage appearance was in Lan's Young Vic production of Doctor Faustus. Last year Lan also directed Sienna Miller — whose relationship with Law regularly feeds the papers' gossip columns — in a West End production of As You Like It.
