News Noah Galvin, Jeff Talbott, Bryan Welnicki and Remy Zaken Will Read Joe Slabe's Jeremy de Bergerac Producer Ken Davenport (Godspell) will present Joe Slabe's Jeremy de Bergerac as the tenth selection in The Davenport Developmental Reading Series Aug. 6 at the Davenport Studio in Manhattan.

Directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar (These Seven Sicknesses at the Flea), the 8 PM performance will feature Noah Galvin (Off-Broadway's Yosemite), Jeff Talbott (Sly Fox, Fortune's Fool, playwright of The Submission), Bryan Welnicki (NYC premiere of The Fix) and Remy Zaken (Spring Awakening). One additional performer will be named. The reading will be followed by a talkback with playwright Slabe.

Here's how the work is described: "What happens when the boys of St. Mark's and the girls of St. Anne's team up to present a classic French tale of love and intrigue? Cyrano de Bergerac leaps from the page to the stage… to the hearts of both under-age and sage. Love blossoms, jealousies flare, secrets abound and everyone gets an education beyond what they'd bargained for. Jeremy de Bergerac is a testament to the transformative powers of great art and youthful passion."

Playwright Slabe has written or collaborated on five musicals, including Austentatious, which was presented at the 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). Jeremy de Bergerac premiered in Calgary in February 2012.

The Davenport Developmental Reading Series takes place every four months and highlights new plays or musicals from up-and-coming writers. For more information, visit DavenportTheatrical.com.
