The event — to run June 20-24 — "unites the best of emerging and established hip hop artists from around the country in an arena that stretches the limits of theater, dance, spoken word and live music." Performances will take place at The Public Theatre, New York Theater Workshop, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater's Joan Weill Center for Dance and more. Among the many presentations this year include the American debut of Brazilian B Boy Frank Ejara in Som do Movimento, Ben Snyder's Rock, Paper, Scissors, excerpts from Jennifer Cendaña Armas' Skinimin12, Chastity Dotson's Little Book of Battles, Edwin Lee Gibson's Five 'Til and Kristina Wong's Free? as well as staged readings of Dominique Morisseau's Retrospect 4 Life, Anthony Roman's The Vacant Sky, Ishle Yi Park's Angel & Hannah: A Love Story In Hip-Hop Sonnets and Zakiyyah Alexander's Etymology of a Bird.
In previous years, the HHTF has presented Bridge & Tunnel Tony Award winner Sarah Jones' Surface Transit, Will Power's Flow and more.
