NEW YORK -- The fashion world is about to get a whole lot Funkier. Not to be outdone by the newspaper spreads of pouty Rent cast members modeling downtown chic, the dancers of Broadway's Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk will strut (or tap?) down the runway as models in a July 22 New York fashion show.

The Funksters will model the Fall '96 menswear collection by French designers Marithe and Francois Girbaud 2:30 PM July 22 at the Puck Building, 295 Lafayette St., New York. They will perform several numbers from the hit Broadway show.

In a statement, the designers wrote that Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk "explores tap dancing as a means of expressing individuality and pride for African-Americans throughout history. Girbaud's new 'Be' campaign reflects a similar theme, encouraging consumers to see themselves as strong, independent and free."

There you have it.
