Nominees for Jazz Journalists Association Awards Announced

The Jazz Journalists Association has announced the nominees for its annual awards. The awards will be presented a ceremony on June 14 at B.B. King's Blues Club and Grill in Manhattan.

Nominees include saxophonist Branford Marsalis, who was nominated for Musician of the Year and Tenor Saxophonist of the Year, while his album Eternal was nominated for Jazz Album of the Year and his quartet for Small Ensemble Group of the Year.

Trumpeter Dave Douglas, tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano, and bassist Dave Holland were also nominated for the Musician of the Year award. Don Bryon's Ivey Divey, Maria Schneider's Grammy-winning Concert in the Garden, and Clark Terry's Porgy & Bess were nominated for Jazz Album of the Year.

Drummer Roy Haynes, pianist Hank Jones, and alto saxophonists Sam Rivers and Lee Konitz were nominated for the Lifetime Achievement in Jazz Award.
