The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer's award-winning play about the early days of the AIDS epidemic, will be performed as part of the SecondStage Series of the Civic Theatres of Central Florida.

The play is scheduled to run Apr. 16-May 10.

The director is Ellen Jones; the cast includes Darlin Barry, Scottie Campbell, Chris Jorie, James Keaton, John Peros, Benjamin Privitt, Todd Schuck, Lou Tally and Paul Wargo.

The Normal Heart, which originally ran Off-Broadway at the New York Shakespeare Festival (where it opened April 21, 1985 and closed Jan. 5, 1986), takes place from 1981-84 and concerns a NY writer who fights to get the city's powerful elite to respond to the growing AIDS crises.

Performances are at Thu.-Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. at 4:30 PM at the theatre in Orlando Loch Haven Park, 1001 E. Princeton St. For tickets, $15, call (407) 896-7365. -- By Rebecca Paller
