PlayBlog North Atlantic's Tierney Returns to "Rescue Me" Maura Tierney, currently appearing in The Wooster Group's North Atlantic, will return to television after leaving the screen to battle breast cancer last year, reported the Associated Press.

Tierney "has finished treatment and is doing very well and is happy to move forward with the next phase of her life," said her spokeswoman, Christina Papadopoulos.

She will return as a guest star on FX’s “Rescue Me,” reprising her role as the love interest of show’s star Denis Leary. She is filming four episodes slated to air during the show’s seventh and final season in 2011.

Tierney is perhaps best known to television audiences for her role as Abby Lockhart on the long-running medical drama “ER.” She was cast in NBC’s new series “Parenthood,” which premiered in February, but had to leave the show after filming the pilot last August. Lauren Graham (Guys and Dolls) stepped in to fill the role.

North Atlantic is running through April 25 at Baryshnikov Arts Center, 450 West 37th Street.
