News North Carolina Theatre's Cinderella, with Montalban, Rush and Foy, Begins April 10 North Carolina Theatre presents the "Enchanted" version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella beginning April 10.

The production will run through April 18 in the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. The cast is headed by Paolo Montalban as Prince Christopher, Jessica Rush as Cinderella, Harriett D. Foy as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, Jennifer Frankel as Joy, Christine Hunter as Queen Constantina, Alexa Robertson as Young Cinderella, Stephen Schellhardt as Lionel, C. E. Smith as King Maximillian and Louise Stewart as Grace. The "Enchanted" version of the classic story features the famed Rodgers and Hammerstein score with an updated book by Tom Briggs and magical effects. Gabriel Barre, who mounted the national tour of Cinderella, directs this production as well.

Director Barre stated, "What excites me most about this production is the fun and contemporary language, the stronger connection made between the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella, and the addition of a bit of spice and a lot of strength to the character of Cinderella."
