News North Shore Finds Its Tarzan; Production Will Feature Revised Script by David Henry Hwang Playbill.com has learned that Brian Justin Crum, whose Broadway credits include Next to Normal, Grease and Wicked, will star in the title role of the North Shore Music Theatre's upcoming production of the Disney musical Tarzan.

Directed by Bill Castellino with choreography by Josh Bergasse, performances are scheduled at the Massachusetts venue for July 12-24. Complete casting will be announced shortly.

Based on the popular 1999 Disney film and the classic story by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan features music and lyrics by Phil Collins and a book by David Henry Hwang.

The North Shore production will feature the debut of a new 14-piece orchestration for the musical. Librettist Hwang is also working through rehearsals to revise the book.

"This classic tale unfolds in early 1900’s as a shipwreck leaves an infant orphaned on the West African shore," according to North Shore. "The helpless baby is taken under the protection of a gorilla tribe and becomes part of their family. When he eventually encounters his first human, Jane Porter, both of their worlds transform forever."
