This announcement confirms that the opening night of The Seafarer, which had been scheduled for Nov. 15 at the Booth Theatre, has been postponed. No new opening date has been announced.
Twenty-seven Broadway shows are currently dark because of the strike. Only eight shows will perform Wednesday afternoon and evening, Nov. 14 and Thursday evening, Nov. 15. Those shows include Cymbeline, Mary Poppins, Mauritius, Pygmalion, The Ritz, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Xanadu and Young Frankenstein. These productions are housed in theatres whose contracts with Local One are separate.
Telecharge.com also states that the darkened theatres have canceled shows through Saturday evening, Nov. 17. As of press time, a League spokesperson could not confirm cancellations past Nov. 15.
