New York's Le Bar Bat will be "Having a Party" with SAM, a new musical tribute to singer Sam Cooke, written, directed and starring Bill Stone and opening Feb. 13, 1999.

New York's Le Bar Bat will be "Having a Party" with SAM, a new musical tribute to singer Sam Cooke, written, directed and starring Bill Stone and opening Feb. 13, 1999.

Co-starring will be Zane Massey, Hui Cox, C. Esther Wooten, and Taurey Butler, all portraying key members of Cooke's life. The cabaret performance will feature many of Cooke's popular oldies (sung by Stone) including "Cupid," "Chain Gang," "A Change is Going to Come," and "You Send Me."

SAM is produced by Clarence M. Ali and his Theatre of Universal Images, veterans of over 100 plays, and musicals including Langston Hughes Black Nativity, and Melvin Van Peebles' Ain't Supposed to Die a Nautral Death. TUI's alumni include: Samuel L. Jackson, Esther Rolle, John Amos, Antonio Fargas, Glynn Turman, Melvin Van Peebles and Ella Joyce.
