The New York premiere of Mark Chrisler’s drama Worse Than Tigers begins performances August 24 at the New Ohio Theatre. The production, directed by Emmy nominee Jaclyn Biskup (The Secret Lives of Muslims), has been extended through September 8.
In Worse Than Tigers, Braeson Herold (Vinyl) and Shannon Marie Sullivan (Nicholas, Maeve, Marianne) play Humphry and Olivia, a couple envied for their comfortable lives, seemingly perfect relationship, and social media presence.
"Unexpectedly, Olivia’s lover—id-driven Officer Kirk Patrick—shows up, trailing a man-eating tiger which takes up residence right outside, threatening to devour anyone who opens the door," read production notes. "A comedy...until it's not."
Zach Wegner completes the cast.
The production team includes Matt Carlin (scenic design), Kate Ducey (lighting design), Kristy Hall (costume design), AJ Surasky (sound design), Caspin Jones (assistant scenic design and props design), and Nat Di Mario (production stage manager).
Chrisler's other plays include Teatime at Golgotha, The Art of Painting, and Phonies, Frauds, and Fakes: A Play That is Absolutely Not About My Ex-Girlfriend.
