Upstairs at Peaches, the Manhattan night spot that began showcasing Broadway and cabaret talent in January 1999, will stop presenting, according to producer Sandi Durell.

The final show there was April 26, when Christiane Noll (Jekyll & Hyde), who opened the club in January, performed. Durell was told by the owners that the host restaurant, Peaches, at 206 E. 63rd Street, will close.

Durell said the cabaret series was picking up momentum and she had booked performers Anthony Rapp (Rent, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown), James Beeks (Ragtime), impersonator Steven Brinberg (Simply Barbra -- The Wedding Tour) and others through June. Alice Ripley (Side Show) was among those from the New York theatre world who sang there in previous months.

"It was a tremendous amount of work and effort, and it began to grow and blossom," Durell told Playbill On-Line. Durell, a singer and veteran special events coordinator, may explore other presentation possibilities.
