The new play by four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally charts the egos, passions, hopes and heartbreaks of the troupe creating the world-premiere production of Vincenzo Bellini's opera I Puritani in 1835. Rossini makes a surprise appearance in the play's final third, shaking Bellini (played by Lee Pace). Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago) directs.
Morfogen (Freud's Last Session) appeared in the role of Rossini in the world premiere of Golden Age at the Philadelphia Theatre Company and as part of The Kennedy Center's "Nights at the Opera" series celebrating the works of McNally.
Abraham joined the production for a four-week engagement. He will play his final performance in Golden Age on Sunday, Dec. 9. Morfogen assumes the role beginning Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Golden Age opens Dec. 4 at MTC at New York City Center Stage I at 131 W. 55th Street.
