News NYC's Target Margin Puts Tempest in a Jewel Box May 4-27 Off-Off-Broadway's Target Margin Theater conjures Shakespeare's The Tempest starting May 4.

The revival's concept places the action within a theatrical world — "in an old-fashioned theatre," according to Target Margin notes.

Artistic director David Herskovits directs a cast that includes Clare Barron as Miranda, Purva Bedi as Sebastian, James Tigger! Ferguson as Antonio, Yehuda Hyman as Gonzalo, Mia Katigbak as King Alonso, Meg MacCary as Stephano, Nana Mensah as Ariel, Mary Neufeld as Caliban, Hubert Point-Du Jour as Ferdinand, Steven Rattazzi as Prospero and J.H. Smith III as Trinculo.

The Tempest "brings the company back to its Shakespearean roots with a rich and strange production performed by members of the troupe that will challenge perceived notions of performing Shakespeare," according to Target Margin notes.

Director Herskovits said in a statement, "We at Target Margin have built a magic box, an old-fashioned jewel of a stage, to create our vision: a memory theatre of the future. But this is a labor of passion, of love and loss. We aspire to marry Shakespeare's most mature meditation on theatre and the passage of time, with undiluted personal feeling."

The limited engagement continues through May 27, at HERE at 145 Sixth Avenue, one block south of Spring. Opening night is May 9. The creative team includes David Birn (sets), Carol Bailey (costumes), Lenore Doxsee (lights), Kate Marvin (sound), Thomas Cabaniss (music supervision) and David Rosenmeyer (music director). The production stage manager is Joseph Fletcher.

The Tempest will play the following performance schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays–Saturdays at 8:30 PM, and Sundays at 4 PM. Dark on Tuesdays. There will be a special Saturday matinee on Saturday, May 7 at 4 PM.

Ticket are priced at $20 for performances May 4-8, & $25 for all remaining performances, and may be purchased at www.here.org, or by calling (212) 352-3101.

A Special Benefit Performance is scheduled on May 12 at 8:30 PM. Tickets are $100 that includes the reception before curtain and party after the performance.
