New York Institute of Technology at the Manhattan campus will host two "show biz-related" seminars by Michael Riedel, Daily News theatre columnist and co-host of WNET-TV's Theater Talk, to kick-off their new continuing education series "Brunch & Learn."

The first of these courses -- entitled The Business of Show -- runs April 12, 19 and 26 from 12:30 PM. to 2 PM. This class takes an in-depth look at the business of Broadway. Topics of discussion include theatre pricing, skyrocketing production costs, the power of the critics, the disappearance of non-musical plays from Broadway, the rise of off Broadway and the success of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The second course, Showbiz Journalism, will be held May 3, 10 and 17 from 12:30 PM to 2PM and will take a look at the rise of entertainment journalism. From Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times to the proliferation of television news programs devoted to the entertainment industry, students will learn how to write and report articles about show business.

The "Brunch & Learn" seminars will take place at the New York Institute of Technology campus located at 1855 Broadway at 61st Street. The cost for each seminar is $50. For more information or to register for one or both classes, please contact Dr. Alyce Knight at (212) 261-1630
