News NYMF Members Can Book Seats For New Musicals Beginning Aug. 1 New York Musical Theatre Festival members can begin purchasing tickets to the various musicals featured in the festival beginning Aug. 1.

Tickets for the three-week festival, which features musicals penned by established and emerging artists, generally sell at a brisk pace, with many theatregoers unable to obtain tickets for productions that garner industry buzz.

The NYMF membership allows musical lovers to book seats on Aug. 1, a month prior to the on-sale date for the general public (Sept. 1).

NYMF membership packages include priority seating, access to exclusive programming and the opportunity to attend opening-night parties and year-long NYMF events. Packages available include $300 platinum (12 tickets), $200 gold (8 tickets) and $100 (4 tickets).

Running Sept. 15–Oct. 5, NYMF 2008 features musicals from around the world, culled from invitations and an open-submission process. Numerous Broadway veterans lend their talents to the new works, many of which have found commercial life Off-Broadway, and for the first time, on Broadway with [title of show].

Fully staged and produced musicals for the 2008 NYMF Next Link line-up include About Face, Bedbugs!!! The Musical; Castronauts or: How I Killed Fidel; CYCLONE (and the Pig-Faced Lady); Fucking Up Everything: The Musical; Jason and Ben; The Jerusalem Syndrome; Love Jerry; To Paint the Earth; Twilight in Manchego; and Wood. Four original dance musicals, The Hourglass and The Poisoned Pen, Sophia's Fall, Ward 9 and Wild About Harry, are also on the bill.

NYMF's staged readings, presented through the 2008 Developmental Series, will include Black Footnotes, Lines, Wrapped, Fairy Tales, Robin Hood, Ubu: A 'Patamusical and I Love You, Madame President.

Special events comprise Chocolate Soup, with music and lyrics by Matt Corriel and a book by Jill Jaysen (Sept. 21); A Puppet Music Thing, curated by Alissa Hunnicutt (Sept. 23); and Giant Killer Shark, with book, music and lyrics by Sam Sutherland (Oct. 2).

Concerts include the Prospect Theatre Company's 10th Anniversary Concert (Sept. 21), Benj Pasek and Justin Paul in Concert (Sept. 22) and Jill Sobule sings Prozak & the Platypus (Oct. 2). An additional concert will be announced shortly.
