News   NYMF's A New Generation of Song Begins in Astoria Sept. 28

Astoria, Queens will be filled with the songs of new musicals Sept. 28-30, as the Astoria Performing Arts Center — in association with the New York Musical Theatre Festival — presents the works of new and established composers in A New Generation of Song – The Future of Musical Theatre.

Among the new composers whose unproduced work will be performed are Jeffrey Campos, Paul Fujimoto, Mary Goulet, Adam Gwon, Laurence Holzman, Robert Intile, Michael Kessler, Brett Kristofferson, Felicia Needleman, Francis Re, Benjamin Rosenbluth and Alan Wager.

In support of the up-and-coming composers' endeavors, several established composers and lyricists — including Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin), Craig Carnelia (Sweet Smell of Success, Is There Life After High School?), David Zippel (The Woman in White, City of Angels), David Spencer (Weird Romance) and John Mercurio (Diva Diaries) — have also provided selections of their material to be presented alongside the new works.

Performers Sevan Greene, Abby Baum, Shad Olsen and Stephanie Wilberding perform the eclectic mix at the Waltz-Astoria in Astoria, Queens. Show time each night is 7 PM.

Tickets for A New Generation of Song – The Future of Musical Theatre are available by calling (212) 352-3101 or by visiting www.apacny.org.

The Waltz-Astoria is located at 23-14 Ditmars Boulevard in Astoria, NY.
