News NYPL Will Launch Behind The Scenes Broadway Revealed Photo Exhibit The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Shelby Cullom Davis Museum in Lincoln Center will present Broadway Revealed: Photographs by Stephen Joseph Behind the Theater Curtain – a free photography exhibition on display in the Library's Vincent Astor Gallery – to open Nov. 8.

The exhibit will run through Jan. 31, 2015 and is organized by the Bedford Gallery, Lesher Center for the Arts (Walnut Creek, CA) where it debuted in 2012. According to press notes, "Broadway Revealed will offer viewers a behind the scenes look at world-class theater productions through the striking panoramic photography of artist Stephen Joseph. This traveling exhibition features more than 100 of Joseph's photographs showcasing the complex support network of design, lighting, directing, and staging that comes together to create the magic world of the theater. Joseph's composite, 360-degree photographs uncover the hidden heroes responsible for the dramatic flare and beautiful staging that has made Broadway a global leader in theater."

The Library for the Performing Arts will also present a number of special artifacts on display, including costume bibles from its collection and costumes from productions of Kiss Me Kate, Wicked, Hair, Follies, The Merchant of Venice; it will also display the titular boots from Kinky Boots to complement the photographs in the exhibition.
