Time to come out of your shells, get cracking and scramble over to Central Park: Saturday, Apr. 11, 11 AM-3 PM. The 52nd annual Barricini Easter "Eggstravaganza" will this year feature several Broadway and Off Broadway performances, alongside the usual egg rolling, egg dyeing and egg selling activities. This free event drew more than 50,000 fans in 1997.
Among the shows slated to eggcite the crowd this year are 1776, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Smokey Joe's Cafe and Forever Tango, alongside Off-Broadway's The Fantasticks, Joseph Gabriel's Magic `98, Forbidden Broadway and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. (The latter show will offer an extended medley beginning at 1 PM.) Troupes from TADA! and Theatreworks USA will also be on hand to entertain the younger folks.
Alas, no one's doing Joe Egg, Scrambled Feet -- or Omelet, King of Denmark.
