Margaret Whiting and Julie Budd will be among the artists giving voice to the songs of Richard Rodgers in the "Lyrics & Lyricists" program "The Greatest Hits of Richard Rodgers." The evening -- one of the last programmed by late "L & L" Artistic Director Maurice Levine -- is intended to illustrate the magic Rodgers' music brought to the words of Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein II and Stephen Sondheim. Also appearing will be Mike Burstyn, Claiborne Cary, Marc Hardy, Nina Hennessy, Jose Llana, and Deborah Tranelli. Jan Neuberger will be hostess and narrator, and Fred Wells is the musical director. The program will feature selections from Pal Joey, Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music.
"The Greatest Hits of Richard Rodgers" will be presented May 2 at 8 PM and May 3 at 2:30 and 8 PM, at the 92nd Street Y at Lexington Avenue and 92nd Street in New York. For information, call (212) 996-1100.
