Dolores Prida's Casa Propia, winner of Repertorio Espanol's "American Dream" Playwriting Contest, will have its world premiere Feb. 5 at Off-Off-Broadway's Gramercy Arts Theatre. The play will continue in revolving repertory. Set in East Harlem, Casa Propia follows one family who dream of opening a home in their own community. Prida is also the author of comedy Botanica, which ran for seven years in the company's revolving repertory. Along with the fully staged production, Prida was also awarded $3,000 and a staged reading in fall 1998.
Other runner-ups for the prize sponsored by Fannie Mae include second place winner Rob Santana's Americaville, third place winner Angelo Parra's Song of the Coqui, and runner-up prize winners Louis Delgado (Before It's Too Late) and Franco Ambriz (Esperanza and Fidencio Archuleta).
Tickets ($25-$20) are available by calling the Repertorio at (212) 889 2850. The Gramercy Arts Theatre is located at 138 East 27th Street.
